Blue Rodeo...

Every year mom and dad attend the big country and western events near Birmingham, today was my first western festival and I loved it!

Blue Rodeo is held at Stratford Upon Avon Racecourse from the 9th August to the 10th August, because of work we only managed to go on the Sunday; we were in two minds whether to go due to the horrendous rain and wind bought over from hurricane Bertha.

However we solidered on and headed to the west...

Unfortunately due to the rain the only horses that were there on Sunday was a wooden display horse; on clear days horses and wagons are paraded up and down the main strip...

There are tons of original and replica western tents and Tee-P's in the main area, many of the people are welcoming and are thrilled when you asked to photograph their displays...

Even the undertakers were at the ready incase some trouble broke out...

Shoot outs and fastest draw competitions are held throughout the day, who knows next year I could be the next Calamity Jane 'ain't a woman in all of Birmingham who can out shoot me'...

Both sides of the main strip were full of clothing stalls, hat and gun holster stalls, food stalls and jewellery stalls... Although they can be quite pricey if you shop around quite a bit you can manage to get the items quite cheap!

Everyone dressed up was open to having their picture taken and loved it when you asked...

Everyone was dressed up to the nines, either as cowboys/girls or native Indians...

Live music was constant throughout the day from centre stage with a huge a ray of instruments... Line dancing was another fun factor that added to the day, no matter the song the dancing never ended!

Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, The Carter Family, Jim Reeves, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard and Bill Monroe... The number of classic country singers that were covered was endless!

Me and mom trying not to blow away with the wayward wind!
